The growth medium removed from cultures of Centella asiatica callus (a mass of cells obtained by culturing plant tissue) after several days of growth (JCIA and CosIng definitions). No published peer-reviewed study on its composition (such as whether, and how much, triterpenoids it contains) or on the skin effects of this ingredient itself could be found, and its mechanism of action is unconfirmed.

No public data on typical use concentrations in cosmetics could be found. This ingredient was not among the nine Centella asiatica-derived ingredients covered by the safety assessment published by the US Cosmetic Ingredient Review (CIR) in 2023.
