An amino acid that replenishes the natural moisturizing factor of the stratum corneum and imparts a moist feel
Mechanism
A major constituent amino acid of NMF. Having a hydroxyl group, it contributes to moisture absorption and retention and helps maintain stratum corneum hydration

Roughly 0.05–1% (varies by product)
